Welcome to Yeungnam University’s Institute of Clean Technology (ICT). Founded in 2000, ICT has been the best Research Institute in Yeungnam University since 2011 and is the second oldest Institute on clean technology in South Korea. Currently, ICT has two research centers (Alternative Energy Research Center and Electron Beam Acceleration Center) and four research divisions (Cleaner Production Process Research Division, Cleaner Materials and Products Research Division, Recycle and Reuse Research Division, and Clean Essential Technology Research Division). In the Institute, 50 full-time professors, 50 research professors/post-doctoral research associates, and one secretary are working to develop new clean technologies. Clean technology is essential in the development of various industrial fields and preserving the environment.
In 2015, under the directorship of Prof. Jintae Lee, ICT was selected as a National Priority Research Center to implement research on “Sustainable IT and Energy Materials and Processes using Cleaner Nanotechnology and Biotechnology” with support by the Ministry of Education of Korea.
The major goals of the Priority Research Center are as follows: (1) to develop materials and processes for producing clean energy from biomass using microbial fuel cell, and from sunlight using tandem quantum dot solar cell; and (2) to develop materials for the efficient storage of this clean energy using supercapacitors from graphene-based nanocomposites.
To accomplish the above goals, ICT has been undertaking the following tasks:
Please explore our website to discover more about ICT. I hope you can have an opportunity to visit ICT in the beautiful campus of Yeungnam University in the near future so that you can find out how actively ICT is moving and contributing for a cleaner world.
